7 Simple Steps For A Successful PPC Campaign

One of the most powerful techniques for driving traffic to any website is Pay Per Click (PPC). Top of the food chain for PPC traffic is Google AdWords. You can literally start receiving traffic within 15 minutes after setting up your campaign. With PPC, your ad can be displayed on search engines, content network websites and online advertising networks, which provide tons of targeted traffic.

In order to succeed in PPC advertising, you must learn how it all works and how your online business can benefit. PPC is really just keyword bidding for search engine placement. A money-making PPC campaign involves planning and a little bit of research. To beat your competition, implement the following 7 steps:

1. Know your target market and product: Take the time to study your market or niche and all the top-selling products. You must learn who the top players are. With effective research, you will see who your potential customers are and what they are buying.

2. Set your budget: PPC campaigns are all about planning and how to stay within the stipulated budget. Before beginning your PPC campaign, you must determine your daily or monthly budget. With this in mind you will never spend more than you can afford to. It will also allow keep you from getting caught up in a keyword bidding war.

3. Choose keywords: The keywords you use will either convert visitors into sales or not do so. There is really no way to know ahead of time how a specific keyword will perform. I suggest creating a list of at least 10 targeted keywords initially. It is also a good idea to use brackets for the keyword (eg. [car parts]).

4. Bid intelligently: First of all, never bid too high for any keywords until you are certain the keyword converts. I like for my ads to appear in positions 2 - 4. My goal is always to get on the first page, unless the cost is prohibitive. I do not like to appear deeper than the second page for any keywords.

5. Write catchy advertisements: You can also create ads based on a product name, your company's brand name, a competitors name, discount offers, free trials or offers, testimonials, guarantees, etc. I personally like to run searches on Google to see what others are doing before writing my own ads. This is only takes a few minutes and is well worth the time.

6. Create landing pages: It is not always a good idea to send visitors to your homepage. Sometimes, it is more effective to create different landing pages on your site for each keyword you are bidding on. By making sure the keyword the visitor used to reach your landing page appears on the page, you will greatly improve your odds for a sale.

7. Analyze your results: The last mantra is to compare your profit margin with your actual incurred expenses. It is critcal to analyze your results daily and make adjustments where necessary. You must be smart enough to know when to terminate a losing PPC campaign.

If you wish to succeed with PPC advertising, then you should incorporate all 7 steps into your action plan. These steps have proven to minimize cost, while at the same time maximize PPC profits. Best of luck on all your campaigns!
